Peace and Progress at Providence Home
It’s so important to engage in our communities – and give back!
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of visiting Providence Home in Columbia, South Carolina where I was invited to do a food demonstration for some 60 resident men temporarily living there while they heal and gain strength. It was such a wonderful experience, and I was so humbled to be invited by the leadership to serve these men.
I prepped, demonstrated, then fed the residents my plant-based nachos. They were a huge hit! I spoke with the men about healthy eating and was blessed to be able to share my testimony!
We all have a story and what a blessing to hear some of their stories and to spend time with them.
Providence Home offers transitional housing for men just coming out of prison, substance abuse or other traumas. It is Christ-centered and works to equip men with a variety of life-affirming skills, from healing broken relationships to balancing a checkbook. All the men are required to be gainfully employed and pay a weekly rent to enhance accountability. Sobriety is an absolute must and failing a drug test is cause for instant dismissal.
I absolutely love what they do at Providence home. The stories of lives transformed, and families reunited, is deeply encouraging and points to the greatness of our God!
