Hydrating Smoothie

After a long run on Sunday afternoon and a hard singles tennis match yesterday morning, I woke up this morning feeling extra thirsty. I had my regular morning mug of hot water with the juice of half a lemon. Took the kids to school, came home, and made an amazing smoothie.

Here's the recipe I used:

  • ½ cup coconut water

  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 Tbsp chia seed

  • 1 handful of organic spinach

  • 1 scoop propeas protein powder

  • Lemon drop stevia drops or stevia to taste if desired

  • Ice, as much as you want

  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Now here are some things to take note of in this smoothie:

  • Coconut water: One of nature’s most refreshing drinks. It is composed of unique chemicals such as sugars, vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, enzymes, amino acids, cytokine, and phyto-hormones.

  • Almond milk: In my opinion almond milk is a healthier alternative than cow’s milk. If homemade, it leaves an alkaline ash in the blood.

  • Propeas: A plant-based, Non-Gmo protein powder. It has all 8 essential amino acids that are vital to support lean muscle mass that is essential to a good, healthy metabolism.

  • Chia seeds: Nature’s broom and bursting with fiber, protein and the good fats.

  • Pineapple: Contains the enzyme Bromelain which helps break down proteins. This will help you get the full benefit from the protein source in the Propeas.

  • Spinach: Is bursting with Alpha-lipoic acid, an antioxidant which proteins the cells.
